Great looking holder, but be careful which direction you wear it.
TOURBON cowhide leather knife sheath:I have some mixed feelings about this. It is beautifully made and it looks great on the belt, there’s no doubt about that, but there’s a couple of precautions needed to make sure the knife remains secure in the holster.Firstly, if you wear it in the direction shown in the photo i.e. with the stud fastener facing forward, it might easily catch on something and spring open. So I wear it the other way, with the fastener facing backwards, to prevent this happening. My knife is one of the smaller examples shown in the description – 9cm long x 1.5cm thick. It is a good tight fit, so even if the flap should open, it is not immediately going to fall out, but still, it’s better to be safe than sorry; and the leather is likely to gradually soften so I want to be sure the knife remains secure. Also, for now, to be on the safe side, I have fastened a key cord from my knife to my belt, so if it does fall out, my knife will still be safe. It works fine like this, but hopefully I’ll remove the cord once I am happy the knife is staying put.I want to give it 5 stars for the quality and looks, but 3 stars for the design of the closing flap, which I would like to have been a bit wider at the ‘hinge’ end . So that’s why I settled for 4 stars.

Sturdy, robust leather pocket-knife sheath
This leather sheath fits a standard 3-half inch swiss army knife perfectly- once you have been able to soften up the leather sufficiently to get it in.Originally it was very stiff, not being able to get a little finger into the gap and the base didn’t want to bend. About 20 mins of manipulation and leather balm later it was ready to slide the pocket knife, a 4 layer knife like the huntsman fitted very well, leaving about 3-quarters of an inch exposed, the width of the knife exerting enough pressure on the side walls to keep the body secure. However if this was a smaller or significantly thicker knife, it may not fit well, or at all.I was more uncomfortable than I thought I would be on the horizontal carry design, not trusting the friction or the clip tongue to keep it secure, hence i fitted a belt-lanyard, perhaps an over reaction.Construction-wise, it’s very rustically built, the leather is of significant width and stitching strong and durable throughout. The tongue and sheath outer is pattern tooled nicely and it looks and feels substantial’s robust. It’s a good quality, out-doors sort of design and doesn’t feel too restrictive or give pressure to when worn on a belt- the max belt width would be around 40mm / 1.5 inches.Overall, well made, good materials and sturdy, it does fit a specific style of pen-knife better than many so make sure you ensure the size is right for your own knife and remember UK laws on what yuo carry.
